02/28/11 - Departing Rosewood airs March 23th on MPT

Departing Rosewood produced by Susan Hannah Hadary and John Anglim, MedSchool Maryland Productions. Airs March 23, 2011 8:00pm on MPT.

MedSchool Maryland Productions presents Departing Rosewood, a new documentary airing on Maryland Public Television.

Departing Rosewood--the new documentary by OSCAR® winning producer and director of Video Press, Susan Hannah Hadary in collaboration with producer, John Anglim--expands two decades of productions documenting the worlds of individuals with physical disabilities to now include the world of individuals with developmental disabilities.

This documentary presents Steven Corderman, from abuse to institution, from institution to community. As with KING GIMP, Hadary's OSCAR® winning documentary, and others in her "Stars of Inclusion" series, Hadary believes this program will help change society’s stereotypes and help educators, health professionals and service providers to better respect, provide care and support each individual.

While the people who left The Rosewood Center were provided for under a special community support program, Hadary says, "Much remains to be done for individuals with developmental disabilities in Maryland, where there’s currently a waiting list of thousands in desperate need of services. The closure of institutions is only a first step."
