Nursing home residents have patient rights and certain protections under the law. First on the list: residents have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. In this DVD, residents speak out to addresses this fundamental right of all residents. Respect means to them: maintaining independence; responsive care; assistance where and when required; having choices; opportunities to engage in life; and being appreciated as a person.
This valuable DVD allows staff and students preparing to work with the elderly to hear residents' voices addressing care mandated both by federal guidelines concerning ADL assistance, quality of life, and meaningful activities, while always maintaining dignity and respect of each resident.
