Staff working with younger residents quickly realize their special needs and concerns. In this program, they talk about some basics which appeal to nearly all younger generation residents.
Environmental and activity interventions are discussed that decrease their frustration, anger and outbursts as they attempt to readjust to the world of long-term care. These include: simple modifications such as a special room where young residents can look at their type of TV or listen to age appropriate music; special attention to style in physical appearance; providing opportunities for social interactions; and access to the internet.
Topics: activities, younger residents, individuality
Audience: Staff working in long-term care, assisted living and adult day care
