The New Relationship
Order# AD221 (VHS)
Everyone who cares for a family member with Alzheimer’s disease agrees that this disease changes and creates new relationships.
The caregiver, whether a spouse or adult child, becomes the decision maker, often assuming nearly a parental role. Accepting this new role of total and perhaps undesired responsibility can often result in frustration, despair, feelings of hopelessness and loss. Working with families, Dr. Rabins helps them to identify new and positive roles.

The Caregiver’s Options
Order# AD222 (VHS)
After a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, it’s helpful for the family to meet and create a care plan. This plan needs to take advantage of the strengths and abilities of each family member. It also needs to be flexible, responding to different stages of the disease. What works in the early stages may need to be re-visited later on. Options for care discussed are: rotating family caregivers; day care; respite care; foster care; long-term care and in-home health care providers.
