This DVD explores the reality of Alzheimer’s disease through a morning in the life of Bob and Nancy.  Nancy’s memory problems are clearly evident as she tries to remember the names of her grandchildren and begs for her brain to be returned.  Singing show tunes with her husband Bob has been a life long entertainment, but now she can only retrieve the first few words and tunes. Looking through the family photo album gives her great pleasure although she’s not able to identify people.  Today hints just don’t seem to work as she struggles to find the words and memories she needs. Bob’s reassurance and care keeps her smiling and makes everything alright, portraying the meaning of love not conquered by the intrusion of Alzheimer’s disease.

This short documentary is the perfect companion piece for Dr. Rabin’s new DVD, Alzheimer's, The 36-Hour Day and features the same family.

Excellent for students in allied health professional training programs, social work programs and professional caregivers in long-term care, day care and assisted living. Also appropriate for support groups and family caregivers.

Topics: impaired memory, family caregiving, activities
Audience:
Social workers, Alzheimer's support groups, allied health training
